Botox® & Xeomin® in Peoria, IL

Look rested, not frozen. Soften the lines you already have and help keep new ones from setting in, with a nurse practitioner who’ll be honest about what you actually need.

Botox and Xeomin are where New You Health began. Our founder, Deb, got Botox herself, felt like she got her groove back, and wanted to bring that same feeling to Peoria.

What Are Botox® and Xeomin®?

Botox and Xeomin are FDA-approved neuromodulators. In plain English: they gently relax the muscles that create expression lines, like the ones between your brows when you frown or around your eyes when you smile.

When those muscles move less, the skin on top gets a break. Lines you already have soften, and new ones are less likely to set in. Both products work the same basic way. Deb will help you choose the one that fits you best.

What Can Botox Help With?

Most people come to us for the “11s,” those vertical lines between the brows that make you look annoyed when you’re not. But Botox can do more than smooth a frown.

Forehead lines, 11s and crow’s feet

The classic trio. Soften the lines from raising your brows, frowning, smiling and squinting. See how long results last

Brow lift and shaping

Strategic placement can give the brows a subtle lift and a shape you like.

Lip flip

Softens lip lines and gives the upper lip a subtle lift, no filler required. Results in about 2-3 days

Jawline slimming (masseter Botox)

Relaxes the chewing muscle to soften a squared-off jaw. Many clients who clench or grind tell us they feel relief too.

Jowls and neck bands

Relaxing the platysmal bands can help the jaw and neck look smoother and more defined.

Preventative Botox

For clients in their 20s and 30s who want to keep movement lines from becoming permanent wrinkles. How often to come in

A lot of us carry stress in our faces. Many Peoria clients tell us that relaxing the muscles they tense all day helps them feel less tense, too. Results vary from person to person, and Deb will be honest with you at your consultation about what Botox can and can’t do for your concerns.

Look rested, not frozen.

Is Botox Right for You?

Most adults are good candidates, especially if your face is expressive. Our clients are often people who are tired of looking tired, or who feel like their face looks more stressed than they feel.

Try the mirror test. If you can see your forehead lines when you’re not raising your brows, or your 11s show when you’re not frowning, those lines are starting to settle in. That’s a great time to talk to us.

You may be a great fit if…

When we’ll pause first

Every first visit starts with a consultation. Deb reviews your health history, medications, past treatments (neuromodulators, fillers, surgery) and goals before anything is injected.

Botox isn’t recommended if you’re pregnant or breastfeeding, have certain neuromuscular conditions, or have an active skin infection in the treatment area. If it’s not the right fit, we’ll tell you and talk through other options.

What to Expect at Your Botox Appointment

1

Before you arrive

When you book, you’ll get an email link to complete your medical history. You’ll also fill out a short injectable form covering medications, allergies, past treatments and your goals.

2

Your full-face consultation (about 15 minutes)

Your first visit is with Deb, our nurse practitioner, who establishes you as a patient. She’ll look at your whole face, not just one line, and match what she sees with what you want.

3

Your treatment (about 15 minutes)

We cleanse your skin and may map injection points with a white marker. Your injector places the product precisely into the muscles we want to relax using an ultra-fine 32-gauge needle.

4

Right after

Don’t rub or massage the treated area. Pressure can move the product into a muscle we didn’t mean to relax.

Plan on about 30-45 minutes total, including time to talk through other options if you’d like.

Does Botox Hurt?

You’ll feel a quick pinch. We won’t pretend otherwise. But Deb spent years teaching nursing school, quizzing students on every technique for easing that sensation, and she uses all of them here.

You’ll get relaxing music, a comfy chair and a small vibration tool to hold near the injection site. It works on the “gate control” theory of pain: when your nerves are busy with the vibration, they have a hard time registering the pinch. Think of it as the boy who cried wolf for your nerves. Numbing cream is available if you’d like it. Most clients say it’s over before they’ve had time to worry.

Is There Downtime After Botox?

For most people, little to none. You can head right back to work, errands or dinner out.

The main thing to plan for is a possible small bruise, usually about the size of a pencil eraser. It’s more likely if you take blood thinners, omega-3s or anything that makes you bruise easily. We usually know the moment a bruise starts, and we ice it right away. Most fade within a few days, though some can take up to two weeks.

For the first few hours, stay upright and avoid rubbing the area. Skip hard workouts until the next day.

Good to know: Big event coming up? Tell us about any wedding, photos or trip so we can time your appointment around it. And if you’re part of the “secret squirrel club” (keeping your Botox from your partner, friends or mom), just let us know. We’ll have ice ready and go extra gentle.

How Long Does Botox Take to Work, and How Long Does It Last?

Botox and Xeomin aren’t instant, so give it about two weeks before judging your results.

Why dose matters

A full, well-placed dose lets the treated muscle relax completely and keeps neighboring muscles from taking over the movement. That’s why it tends to last longer. A lighter dose often wears off in under three months. Clients who stay consistent often find their results hold a little longer over time.

How Often Should You Get Botox?

For most adults with expressive faces, every three to four months, or roughly three to four visits a year.

If you’re in your early 20s or have a more petite muscle structure, preventative Botox every six months may be enough. Just know that spacing treatments further apart means more chance of movement and lines creeping back between visits.

Masseter Botox for jaw slimming or clenching usually takes a few consistent treatments before the muscle noticeably slims. At every visit, your injector reevaluates your results and adjusts your plan, so your schedule fits your face, not a one-size-fits-all calendar.

Botox Myths We Hear All the Time

Myth: “I’ll look frozen.”

Fact: That look comes from too much product in the wrong places. Done well, you just look like you slept great.

Myth: “Botox is only for women over 40.”

Fact: Many of our clients are in their 20s and 30s, and we treat plenty of men.

Myth: “Botox and filler are the same thing.”

Fact: Botox relaxes muscles that cause lines. Filler restores volume. They often work best together.

Myth: “Once you start, you can’t stop.”

Fact: You can stop anytime. Your muscles simply return to moving like they did before.

Myth: “Botox is Botox, so go cheapest.”

Fact: Results depend on the dose and the injector. Underdosing is a big reason people say “it didn’t work for me.”

No. The goal is a smooth, rested version of you, not a face that can’t move. Deb can even use Botox to shape your brows the way you like them.

No. Most people keep going because they like the results, but nothing bad happens if you stop. Your muscles gradually return to normal movement over a few months.

Usually not. Aging keeps happening, and other muscles can pick up the slack. Most clients settle into a steady dose rather than a shrinking one.

For most areas, about three to four months. A lip flip lasts closer to six weeks. Results vary by person and dose.

Botox® is one of the most studied treatments in aesthetic medicine, with decades of safety data and FDA approval for frown lines, forehead lines and crow’s feet. Every treatment starts with a medical consultation to make sure it’s right for you.
